What is Energy Work?
Energetic healing goes by many names, including generic and trademarked programs such as Reiki, Quantum Touch®, Healing Touch™, Therapeutic Touch and others. While each program has a particular approach, all tap into the same universal source, which we will simply call Energy.
My first introduction to energy work was through Reiki—eventually. Many years ago, a good friend kept pushing me to take a Reiki Level I class with her. She told me all about it, how wonderful it was and how excited she was to learn it. I was not excited. In fact, it sounded pretty weird to me. I told her it was “her thing” not mine and to go on without me. She did and I moved away, but it still kept popping up in my life. About a year later, when someone I’d just met said, “You need to take this class and mentioned the same teacher another person had,” I knew I had to pay attention.
When I walked in to that Level I Reiki class, I felt a rush of emotion. I knew I was exactly where I needed to be and that my life was about to change. Reiki opened up a world to me that I had no idea existed and connected me in to the universe in a way I could have never imagined. I learned that I could feel and channel energy and sometimes even see it. I learned that I could use that energy to help myself and others.
I am trained and certified as a Reiki Master Teacher in the Usui Method of Natural Healing. I provide training and certifications, for Level I Facilitator, Level II Practitioner and Level III/IV Master Teacher.
Because I am so passionate about everyone having the chance to learn and use this fabulous gift of energy, I offer the Reiki Level 1 class remotely to small groups (maximum of 5) via online video conferencing or phone. It may seem odd to do the attunement from a distance, but you’ll learn to do your own distance energy work in Level II and it will make perfect sense. So, just trust that your personal attunement process will be profound however you receive it. I am always in awe of experiences and shared feeling that students in different states and locations have when we are working together. Of course, I would love to work with you in person! And for the Master Teacher training, I only teach one student at a time and it is in-person, one-on-one training.
Whatever the modality name, energy work is not a “laying on of hands” as you may have heard referred to in a religious sense. While the Facilitator (you) may use touch to guide the flow of energy, it is actually the Client who decides (consciously or from a higher awareness) how the energy is to be used. You certainly set your intentions and focus as guided by the Client’s desires and/or intuitive nudges, but the energy will ultimately be directed where it is most needed at the time.
Also, while many of us call ourselves healers because it is expedient, we all understand that we are simply the facilitator of healing. We do not actually do the healing ourselves, we simply provide the Client with a tool for healing (the energy).
Training, Certification and Investment
Every energy work class includes instruction and hands-on practice of techniques. Level I & II classes are limited to a maximum of five to allow time for personal instruction and practice. Level III/IV classes are limited to one Master Teacher Student only. Certificates are provided following the completion of each level.
- Reiki Level I—Provides practical training and hands-on practice that allows everyone to quickly start using energy for themselves and to help others in a nonprofessional setting. In person or via Skype. I offer this option because I want everyone to have the chance to learn and use this fabulous tool. This is a 3-hour class. $125
- Reiki Level II (Practitioner)—In person only. This is a full day class (9-12 and 1-4). $225
- Reiki Level III/IV (Master Teacher)—In person only. Private, individual one-on-one training only by arrangement. $475

What is Convergent Energy Healing and how is it different than Reiki?
After completing my master teacher training, I wanted to understand how one form of running the same Universal Life Force Energy was different than another. So, I explored a variety of modalities and studied with gifted teachers. Each took me another step along my journey and added to my healing and spiritual toolbox. From that journey, I took what worked best for me, defined it in my own terms, then expanded and simplified to create a quick yet powerful approach that’s easy to understand and use in a common everyday way.
Both methods are fabulous and offer different aspects of working with the energy and truly recommend learning both, which is why I include bonus CEH techniques in the Reiki Level I class. The investment schedule is the same for Reiki and CEH, and dual certification is only slightly more.
Learning energy work has been one of the most profound experiences of my life. It opened a connection to a dimension of awareness, feelings and understanding that I had never experienced before. It connected me to something outside myself and reconnected me to something within myself. Then, it showed me they were one and the same.
